Light

Concerning the bounds of wisdom...

The Cause which I knew not I searched out...(Job 29.16)

Just before David uttered his last words He recited a Psalm which was worked around the Light of the Gentile which comes from:

II Samuel 22.29 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.

who says:

II Samuel 22.44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
22.45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.
22.50..I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

Then David said:

II Samuel 23.2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
23.3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
23.4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after the rain.
23.5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
23.6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands.
23.7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

page 2

The term, sons of Belial, refers to the sons of darkness, for Belial [also called Beliar] is the father of liars, and lies, we know, bring forth darkness. He is known to us as Satan. And it has been Satan's mission from the day that God looked upon the earth on the sixth day of creation to destroy the sons of Light who are also called the Sons of Adam [Adam = man]. Many prophets and Jesus called themselves by the name of the Son of Man which relates to an inheritance and promise given to Adam and his seed, that on the sixth day again God would restore Adam and his seed to the Garden of Eden and give back their garments of light. Let us review that conversation which we lifted from our work, Hidden Pavilions. This document is the source of many precepts and prophesies which Matthew reported Jesus fulfilling. Jesus' brother, St. Jude, referred to the Book of Enoch (which probably then included the books of Adam and Eve). The Dead Sea Scrolls also refer to and quote the Book of Enoch (Frag. 3, Jubilees  4.13-14, says that Enow was the first to learn writing). The scriptures of the Book of Enoch shed more light on how Jesus viewed His Mission of being put to death and raised from beneath the rock after three days, etc. We [shall] place text in red where those peculiar precepts in the Gospel can only be sourced here from Enoch.

Adam & Eve: 68.22 After this, came the Word of God to Adam, and said, O Adam, thou hast determined beforehand the days in which sufferings shall come upon Me, when I am made flesh; for they are the fourth Wednesday, and the preparation day Friday. [Preparation Day = the day of preparing the Pascal Lamb]
68.23 But as to the first day, I created in it all things, and I raised the heavens. And, again, through My rising again on this day, will I create joy and raise them on high, who believe in Me; O Adam, offer this oblation, all the days of thy life.
3.2 Yea, the Word that will again save thee when the five days and a half are fulfilled.
3.3 But when Adam heard these words from God, and of the great five days and a half, he did not understand the meaning of them.
3.4 For Adam was thinking that there would be but five days and a half for him, to the end of the world.
3.5 And Adam wept, and prayed God to explain it to him.
3.6 Then God in His Mercy for Adam who was made after His own image and similitude, explained to him, that these were 5,000 and 500 years; and how One would then come and save him and his seed.
3.7 But God had before that made this covenant with our father, Adam, in the same terms, ere he came out of the garden, when he was by the tree whereof Eve took the fruit and gave it to him to eat.
7.2 Then God had pity on them, and said: O Adam, I have made My covenant with thee, and I will not turn from it; neither will I let thee return to the garden, until My covenant of the great five days and a half is fulfilled.
10.8 But God said unto Adam, I have made thee a promise; when that promise is fulfilled, I will bring thee back into the garden, thee and thy righteous seed.
14.2 But God the Lord said to Adam, Verily I say unto thee, this darkness will pass from thee, every day I have determined for thee, until the fulfillment of My covenant; when I will save thee and bring thee back again into the garden, into the abode of light thou longest for, wherein is no darkness. I will bring thee to it--in the Kingdom of Heaven.

page 3

14.3. Again said God unto Adam, All this misery that thou hast been made to take upon thee because of thy transgression, will not free thee from the hand of Satan, and will not save thee.
14.4 But I will. When I shall come down from heaven, and shall become flesh of thy seed, and take upon Me the infirmity from which thou sufferest, then the darkness that came upon thee in this cave shall come upon Me in the grave, when I am in the flesh of thy seed.
14.5 And I, who am without years, shall be subject to the reckoning of years, of times, of months, and of days, and I shall be reckoned as one of the sons of men, in order to save thee.
15. Then Adam and Eve wept and sorrowed by reason of God's word to them, that they should not return to the garden until the fulfillment of the days decreed upon them; but mostly because God had told them that He should suffer for their salvation.
21.8 But the merciful God, who looks upon His creatures, looked upon Adam and Eve as they lay dead, and he sent His Word unto them and raised them.
21.9 And said to Adam, O Adam, all this misery which thou hast wrought upon thyself, will not avail against My rule, neither will it alter the covenant of the 5,500 years.
22.6 Then God said again unto Adam, Because thou hast borne fear and trembling in this land, languor and suffering treading and walking about, going upon this mountain, and dying from it, I will take all this upon Myself in order to save thee.
24.4 Then came the Word of God to Adam, and said unto him, O Adam, as thou hast shed thy blood, so will I shed My own blood when I become flesh of thy seed; and as thou didst die, O Adam, so also will I die. And as thou didst build an altar, so also will I make for thee an altar on the earth; and as thou didst offer thy blood upon it, so also will I offer My blood upon an altar on the earth.
24.5 And as thou didst sue for forgiveness through that blood, so also will I make My blood forgiveness of sins, and blot out transgressions in it.
24.6 And now, behold, I have accepted thy offering, O Adam, but the days of the covenant, wherein I have bound thee, are not fulfilled. When they are fulfilled, then will I bring thee back into the garden.

page 4

26.9 Then came the Word of God to Adam, and said unto him, Adam, as for the sun, if I were to take it and bring it to thee, days, hours, years, and months would all come to naught, and the covenant I have made with thee, would never be fulfilled.
26.10 But thou shouldest then be turned and left in a long plague, and no salvation would be left to thee forever.
26.11 Yea, rather, bear long and calm thy soul while thou abidest night and day; until the fulfillment of the days, and the time of My covenant is come.
26.12 Then shall I come and save thee, O Adam, for I do not wish that thou be afflicted..
26.14 But I cannot alter the covenant that has gone out of My mouth; else would I have brought thee back into the garden.
26.15 When, however, the covenant is fulfilled, then shall I show thee and thy seed mercy, and bring thee into a land of gladness, where there is neither sorrow nor suffering; but abiding joy and gladness, and light that never fails, and praises that never cease; and a beautiful garden that shall never pass away.
31. After these things God said unto Adam, Thou didst ask of Me something from the garden, to be comforted therewith, and I have given thee these three tokens as a consolation to thee; that thou trust in Me and in My covenant with thee.
31.2 For I will come and save thee; and kings shall bring me when in the flesh, gold, incense and myrrh; gold as a token of My Kingdom; incense as a token of My Divinity; and myrrh as a token of My Suffering and of My death.
31.11 These three things did God give to Adam, on the third day after he had come out of the garden, in token of the three days the Lord should remain in the heart of the earth.

page 5

38. 2 O Adam, as to the fruit of the Tree of Life, for which thou askest, I will not give it thee now, but when the 5,500 years are fulfilled. Then will I give thee of the fruit of the Tree of Life, and thou shalt eat, and live for ever, thou, and Eve, and thy righteous seed.
42. Then came the Word of God to Adam, and said unto him:
42.2 O Adam, as to what thou sayest, Bring me into a land where there is rest, it is not another land than this, but it is the Kingdom of heaven where alone is rest.
42.3 But thou canst not make thy entrance into it at present; but only after thy judgment is past and fulfilled.
42.4 Then will I make thee go up into the kingdom of heaven, thee and thy righteous seed; and I will give thee and them the rest thou askest for at present.
42.5 And if thou saidst, give me of the Water of Life that I may drink and live, it cannot be this day, but on the day that I shall descend into hell, and break the gates of brass, and bruise in pieces the kingdoms of iron.
42.6 Then will I in mercy save thy soul and the souls of the righteous, to give them rest in My Garden. And that shall be when the end of the world is come.
42.7 And, again, as regards the Water of Life thou seekest, it will not be granted thee this day; but on the day that I shall shed My blood upon thy head in the land of Golgotha.
42.8 For My blood shall be the Water of Life unto thee, at that time, and not to thee alone, but unto all those of thy seed who shall believe in Me; that it be unto them for rest for ever.
45.9 God said also to Adam, See this fire kindled by Satan around thy cave; see this wonder that surrounds thee; and know that it will encompass about both thee and thy seed, when ye hearken to his behest; that he will plague you with fire; and that ye shall go down into hell after ye are dead.

page 6

45.10 Then shall ye see the burning of his fire, that will thus be burning around you and your seed. There shall be no deliverance from it for you, but at My coming; in like manner as thou canst not now go into thy cave, by reason of the great fire around it; not until My Word shall come that will make a way for thee on the day My Covenant is fulfilled.
45.11 There is no way for thee at present to come from hence to rest, not until My Word comes, who is My Word. Then will He make a way for thee, and thou shalt have rest. Then God called with His Word to that fire that burned around the cave, that it part itself asunder, until Adam had gone through it. Then the fire parted itself by God's order, and a way was made for Adam.
47.7 But Satan, the hater of all good, thought within himself; Whereas God has promised salvation to Adam by covenant, and that He would deliver him out of all the hardships that have befallen him - but has not promised me by covenant, and will not deliver me out of my hardships; nay, since He has promised him that He should make him and his seed dwell in the kingdom in which I once was--I will kill Adam.
47.8 The earth shall be rid of him; and shall be left to me alone; so that when he is dead he may not have any seed left to inherit the kingdom that shall remain my own realm; God will then be in want of me, and He will restore me to it with my hosts.
57.1 But when Adam came out and saw his hideous figure, he was afraid of him, and said unto him, Who art thou?
57.2 Then Satan answered and said unto him, It is I, who hid myself within the serpent, and who talked to Eve, and beguiled her until she hearkened to my command. I am he who sent her, through the wiles of my speech, to deceive thee, until thou and she ate of the fruit of the tree, and ye came away from under the command of God.

page 7

57.3 But when Adam heard these words from him, he said unto him, Canst thou make me a garden as God made for me? Or canst thou clothe me in the same bright nature in which God had clothed me?
57.4 Where is the divine nature thou didst promise to give me? Where is that fair speech of thine, thou didst hold with us at first, when we were in the garden?
57.5 Then Satan said unto Adam, Thinkest thou, that when I have spoken to one about anything, I shall ever bring it to him or fulfill my word? Not so. For I myself have never even thought of obtaining what I asked.
57.6 Therefore did I fall, and did I make you fall by that for which I myself fell; and with you also, whosoever accepts my counsel, falls thereby.
57.7 But now, O Adam, by reason of thy fall thou art under my rule, and I am king over thee; because thou hast hearkened to me, and hast transgressed against thy God. Neither will there be any deliverance from my hands until the day promised thee by thy God.
57.8 Again he said, Inasmuch as we do not know the day agreed upon with thee by thy God, nor the hour in which thou shalt be delivered, for that reason will we multiply war and murder upon thee and thy seed after thee.
57.9 This is our will and our good pleasure, that we may not leave one of the sons of men to inherit our orders in heaven.
57.10 For as to our abode, O Adam, it is in burning fire; and we will not cease our evil doing, no not one day nor one hour. And I, O Adam, shall sow fire upon thee when thou comest into the cave to dwell there.
68.12 Then God said to Adam and Eve, Since ye have made this oblation and have offered it to Me, I shall make it My flesh, when I come down upon earth to save you; and I shall cause it to be offered continually upon an altar, for forgiveness and for mercy, unto those who partake of it duly.
68.16 And God said to Adam, This shall be unto you a custom, to do so, when affliction and sorrow come upon you. But your deliverance and your entrance into the garden, shall not be until the days are fulfilled, as agreed between you and Me; were it not so, I would, of My mercy and pity for you, bring you back to My garden and to My favour for the sake of the offering you have just made to My name.

page 8

69.6 God said further unto Adam, Thus will it also happen to Me, on the earth, when I shall be pierced and blood shall flow blood and water from My side and run over My body, which is the true offering; and which shall be offered on the altar as a Perfect Offering.
Book 2 9.12 Then they shall take my body and lay it in the middle of the earth, shortly after they have been saved from the waters of the flood.
9.13 For the place where my body shall be laid, is the middle of the earth; God shall come from thence and shall save all our kindred.
8.19 ... He will rise from the dead, and be exalted above things in heaven and things in the earth; and given...myrrh, in token that He will drink bitter gall; and feel the pains of hell from Satan.
12.6 ...And then God made a promise to Seth, saying, At the end of the great five days and a half, concerning which I have made a promise to thee and to thy father, I will send My Word and save thee and thy seed.

Enoch 44.3 Blessed is the man who does not direct his heart with malice against any man, and helps the injured and condemned, and raises the broken down, and shall do charity to the needy, because on the Day of the Great Judgment every makeweight will be as in the market, that is to say they are hung on scales and stand in the market, and every one shall learn his own measure, and according to his measure shall take his reward.
45.3 When the Lord demands bread, or candles, or flesh (cattle), or any other sacrifice, then that is nothing; but God demands pure hearts, and with all that only tests the heart of man.

46.4 And when the Lord shall send a great light, then there will be judgment for the just and the unjust....

58.7 And as every soul of man is according to number, similarly beasts will not perish, nor all souls of beasts which the Lord created, till the great judgment, and they will accuse man, if he feed them ill.

page 9

61 And now, my children, keep your hearts from every injustice, which the Lord hates. Just as a man asks for his own soul from God, so let him do to every living soul, because I know all things, how in the great time (to come) are many mansions prepared for men, good for the good, and bad for the bad, without number many.
61.2 Blessed are those who enter the good houses, for in the bad houses there is no peace nor return.
65.5 When all creation visible and invisible, as the Lord created it, shall end, then every man goes to the great judgement, and then all time shall perish, and the years, and thence forward there will be neither months nor days nor hours, they will be stuck together and will not be counted.

65.6 There will be one aeon, and all the righteous who shall escape the Lord's great judgment, shall be collected in the Great Aeon, for the righteous the Great Aeon will begin, and they will live eternally, and then too there will be amongst them neither labour, nor sickness, nor humiliation, nor anxiety, nor need, nor violence, nor night, nor darkness, but great light.

65.7 And they shall have a great indestructible wall, and a paradise bright and incorruptible, for all corruptible things shall pass away, and there will be eternal life.
66.5 If you look to heaven, the Lord is there; if you take thought of the sea's deep and all the under-earth, the Lord is there.
66.6 For the Lord created all things. Bow not down to things made by man, leaving the Lord of all creation, because no work can remain hidden before the Lord's face.
66.4 For the Lord sees all things...
66.8 Blessed are the just who shall escape the Great Judgment, for they shall shine forth more than the sun sevenfold.

So the scriptures are about the bringing forth of Light with the intent that Adam will be restored his garment of light and returned to Paradise where there is peace, and this is called the Kingdom of Heaven.

All of the prophets carried forth this thesis, and this is reflected on Maravot's HomepageWe continue to reveal the thesis:

Ezra 9.8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

Through bondage, or affliction, God showed Israel Light. Now Job was concerned about this and asked:

Job 3.3 Let the day perish wherein I was born..
3.4 Let that day be darkness ..
3,9 Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:
3.10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.
3.20 Wherefore is light give to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul.

Then Job noted how being in darkness is a place of disorder and in the shadow of death:

Job 10.22 A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

Then Job speaks about the bringing forth of light:

Job 12.12 With the ancient is wisdom; and length of days understanding.
12.13 With his is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
12.14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
12.15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
12.16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
12.17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
12.18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
12.19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
12.20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
12.21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
12.22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
12.23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straighteneth them again.
12.24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
12.25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

page 14

God, being wise, then can do all these things. From this comes the conclusion that one should desire to reason with God (since God is reasonable):

Job 13.3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
13.4 But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
13.5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! And it should be your wisdom.
13.6 Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
13.7 Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for Him?
13.8 Will ye accept his person? Will ye contend for God?
13.15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
13.16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
13.17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
13.18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
21.5 Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
21.6 Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
21.7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
21.8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
21.9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
21.10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
21.11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
21.12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
21.13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
21.14 Therefore they say unto God, depart from us; we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
21.22 Shall any teach God knowledge? Seeing he judgeth those that are high.

page 15

21.30..the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? They shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
27.8 ..what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
27.11 I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
27.12 Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
27.13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
27.14 If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

Then, returning to the power of God, Job says:

28.11 He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
28.12 But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
28.20 Where then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
28.27 Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28.28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
29.1 Moreover, Job continued his parable, and said,
29.2 O that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
29.3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
29.4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle.
29.5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
29.6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
29.7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
29.8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arouse, and stood up.
29.9 The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
29.10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

29.11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

29.12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

29.13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
29.14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
29.15 I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
29.16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
29.17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
29.18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
29.19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
29.20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
29.21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
29.22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
29.23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
29.24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
29.25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
30.1 But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.
30.5 They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)
30.6 To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in the caves of the earth, and in the rocks.
30.7 Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.
30.9 And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.
30.8 They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.
30.10 They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.
30.11 Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.
30.12 And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.
30.13 My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

page 17

31.38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain,
31.39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life;
31.50 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

So we have learned from Job that God will teach us His ways (wisdom), but with wisdom comes sorrow. With wisdom comes responsibility, to provide for the poor and those who cannot provide for themselves and to provide for the land. Earlier in the book of Enoch we saw a curse against those against whom the animals may cry out; now we see the same type of comment if even the furrows of the land cry out against man. The Messiah, then, carries this knowledge which we call light.
We can see this when David picks up the issue:

Psalm 40.11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
41.1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
41.2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wit not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

With these precepts in mind we can see how they combine in Enoch:

1 Enoch 48 There I saw the fountain of goodness
which was inexhaustible.
Around it were many fountains of Wisdom
The thirsty drank from them
And were filled with Wisdom.
And they lived with the Good, the Holy, and the Elect,
In that hour in which the Son of Man was named
In the presence of the Lord of Spirits,
And His name is Head of Days,
Ere the sun and the signs were created,
Ere the stars of heaven were made,
His name was named before the Lord of Spirits.
He will be a Staff to the good to stay themselves and not fall,
he will be the Light of the Gentiles
And the Hope of those who are troubled of heart.

page 18

Now we can go to Daniel's vision of the light:

Daniel 7.9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days did sit whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
7.10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
7.13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, One like the Son of Man came with the Clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him.
7.14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages should serve Him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Compare this to John's vision:

Revelation 14.14 And I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of Man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
14.15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
14.16 And He that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
14.19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
14.20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

This links to the vision Isaiah was given of the Light of the Gentile :

Isaiah 63.1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in Righteousness, mighty to save.
63.2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
63.3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury: and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

page 19

63.4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
63.5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me, and my fury, it upheld me.
63.6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
63.7 I will mention the lovingkindness of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
63.8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so He was their Savior.
63.9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: in his love and in his pity He redeemed them; and He bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Then we hear the LORD and His Servant of Judgment conversing together and addressing you directly:

Isaiah 49.1 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people from afar; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath He made mention of my name.
49.2 And He hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand hath He hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath He hid me;
49.3 And said unto me, Thou art my Servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
49.4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
49.5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob again to Him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
49.6 And He said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a Light to the Gentiles , that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
49.7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and His Holy One, to him whom man despiseth , to him whom the nation abbhoreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful , and the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose thee.
49.8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages ;
49.9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners, go forth; to them that are in darkness, shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places...

page 20

49.26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

This Servant is further defined as one who does not raise up and go into the streets:

Isaiah 42.1 Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my spirit upon him: He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles .
42.2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street .
42.3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
42.4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
42.5 Thus saith God the LORD, He that created the heavens, and stretched them out: He that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
42.6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a Light of the Gentiles ;
42.7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sin in darkness out of the prison house.
42.16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
42.21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
43.10 ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my Servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
45.21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together:
Who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? Have not I the LORD?
45.22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else
45.23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return,

That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

45.25 In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

page 21

Zephaniah 3.9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, so serve Him with one consent.
Exodus 23.20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee, to bring thee in the way and to bring thee into the places which I have prepared.
23.21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.
23.22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Ezekiel: 34.12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that He is among His sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the Cloudy and Dark Day.
34.23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and He shall feed them, even my Servant David; He shall feed them, and He shall be their shepherd.
36.26 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you..A new heart will I also give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stoney heart out of your flesh and will give you an heart of flesh. Then the heathen that are left around about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and planted that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.
Zechariah 11.16 For lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but He shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.
12.8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and He that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David: and the house of David shall be as God, as the Angel of the LORD before them.
12.10 They shall look upon me whom they have pierced..In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem.

My children, can you see how in the day that Israel is redeemed to the Holy Land the Lord, the LORD's Servant, is given as a Covenant and a messenger (Angel) to lead you in the way, to teach you, to give you a new heart and a new spirit? And the Heathen shall witness this servant and know that in that day I, the LORD, am He. The precepts of the books of Adam and Eve and Enoch present that dialogue which continued throughout the prophets. And this dialogue too has been covered in more detail on Maravot's Homepage.

 page 22

But there is still more you should watch for--to those who have a spirit of seeing eye to eye with him:

Isaiah 29.27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with His anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: His lips are full of indignation and His tongue as a devouring fire.

We know that the indignation referred to above has to deal with the problem of those who had been against my people Israel (see Philistia Triumph thou because of me  for scriptures behind this). So He truly does come to judge the Gentile (heathen) who were against my people Israel. He judges the source of anti-Semitism, for instance. He does this with a fiery mouth which is like a sharp sword:

4 Ezra And it came to pass that after seven days I dreampt a dream at night. There arose a violent wind from the sea and it stirred all its waves. Out of the heart of the seas the wind caused the form of a man to come up. I looked and this man flew with the Clouds of Heaven. Whereever he turned his countenance everything he saw trembled. Wherever the voice went out of his mouth, all that heard his voice melted away as wax melts when it feels fire. After this I saw that from the four winds of Heaven was gathered together an innumerable multitude of men to make war against the Man who came up out of the sea. But he cut out a great mountain and flew up upon it..When he saw the assault of the multitude coming near him, he neither lifted his and nor held a spear or any weapon. But out of his mouth he sent a fiery stream and from his lips a flaming breath, and from his tongue he shot forth a storm of sparks..it all fell on the assault of the multitude which was preparing to fight and it burned them all up, so that suddenly the innumerable multitude was nothing but dust and ashes and smell of smoke...But he, My Son, will reprove the nations that have come for their ungodliness, and the rebukes are like a storm and will reproach them to their face with their evil thoughts and with tortures with which they are destined to be tortured--like flame. Then He will destroy them without labor by the Law, which is like fire...the survivors of your people, even those who are found within my Holy borders, will be saved. Then he will destroy the multitude of nations gathered together, and will defend the people who remain. And he will show them many wonders.

Isaiah 4.1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, we will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
4.2 In that day shall the Branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
4.3 And it shall come to pass that He that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called Holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem.

page 23

Testament of Benjamin: 2.6 And then shall he judge all the Gentiles, as man as believed him not when he appeared upon the earth. And He shall convict Israel through the Chosen Ones of the Gentiles.

Here we see that the Servant makes the Law honorable and judges the gentile who were against Israel, but also he is involved in convicting Israel of an unresolved matter at the time Israel is restored.

Revelation 10.1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
10.2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth
10.3 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

Habakkuk and Daniel both saw this angel:

Habakkuk 3.4 And his brightness was as the light; He had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power:
Psalms 40.7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.
45.7 My heart is indicting a good matter: I speak of the things which i have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
9.17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
9.5 Thou has rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name forever and ever.
2.9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
18.44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
18.16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.18.11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
104.1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
104.2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
104.3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
104.4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
104.24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
50.2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
50.3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestous round about him.
50.4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

page 24

50.5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
50.6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
50.15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
50.16 But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
50.17 Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
94.17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
78.65 Then the LORD awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
78.66 And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
78.68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
78.69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established forever.
78.70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
78.72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
50.21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
50.22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
75.10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
76.9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
76.12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
74.14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
50.23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
51.6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
51.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

page 25

51.11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
51.12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
51.13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
65.2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
64.7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow, suddenly shall they be wounded [for they encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, who shall see them].
18.14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.
58.7 Let them melt away as waters which run continual: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
107.20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
107.41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
107.42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
107.43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

Hosea 14.9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent, and he shall know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
12.9 ..I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the Solemn feast.
12.10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
11.10..he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

Psalm 119.105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119.46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

Because we have seen an angel who has horns in his hand (writer's inkhorn and also carries a small book) – the Oral Torah refers through a play on words to the horns as bolts of lightening – we can now examine an interesting ode from the Odes of Solomon:

page 26

Odes of Solomon 23 And his thought was like a letter: His will descended from on high, and it was sent like an arrow which is violently shot from the bow: and many hands rushed to the letter to seize it and take and read it. And it escaped their fingers and they were affrighted at it and at the Seal that was upon it..But a wheel received it and came over it. And there was with it a sign of the Kingdom and of the government. And everything which tried to move the wheel it mowed and cut down..the letter was one of command, for there were included in it all districts. And there was seen at its head, the head which was revealed, even the Son of Truth from the most high Father. And He inherited and took possession of everything. And the thought of many was brought to nought. And all the apostates hasted and fled away. And those who persecuted and were enraged became extinct. And the letter was a great volume, that was wholly written by the Finger of God. And the name of the Father was on it, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, to rule forever and ever.

This compares to John's vision of the angel with a book and now we can bring in the angel which Ezekiel saw:

Ezekiel 9.1 He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.
9.2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar.
9.3 And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side;
9.4 And the LORD said unto him, go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
9.5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity.
9.6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
9.11 And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.

page 27

This man clothed in linen Daniel saw:

Daniel 12.5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
12.6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, how long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
12.7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half;

and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

We opined our argument with a quote passed from Xenophon through Cicero to Hobbs, how a people tend to resemble their leaders. If the leaders are corrupt so with the people. This turns us to Isaiah's vision of the Last Days:

Isaiah 24.2 and it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest...
24.3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
24.4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
24.5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
24.6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Now concerning their visions of the Light of the Gentile  and one like the Son of Man , the rabbis agreed he is like Daniel, so we have the following speculations on his identity:

B. Sanh 98. Some say: "Menahem [comforter] son of Hezekiah is his name.." And the rabbis say: "The leprous of the house of Study is his name, as it is said, Verily, 'He hath borne our diseases, and our pains--he carried them and we thought him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted' [Isa. 53.4]..Rav said: "If he is of those who live [today] , then he is like our Holy Master [as Rabbi Y'huda the Prince], and if he is of those who have died, then he is like Daniel the beloved man."

Y.Ber.5a The rabbis said: "King Messiah, if he is of those who are alive [today], David is his name, and if he is of those who have died, David is his name..." R. Y'hosu'a ben Levi said, "Tzemah [shoot; Branch] is his name." R. Yudan the son of R. Aybo said: "Menahem [comforter] is his name".

B.Sanh 98.b Rav Y'huda said: "Rav said that the Holy One, blessed be He, will in the future raise for them [for Israel] another David, for it is said, 'They shall serve the LORD their God and David their king whom I will raise up unto them [Jer. 30.9]. It does not say 'raised up' but 'will raise up.'"

Lam. Rab. 1.51..R. Y'hoshu'a said: 'SHOOT [Tzemah; Branch] is his name, for it is written, Behold a man whose name is shoot and who shall shoot up out of his place and build the Temple of the LORD [Zech. 6.12].'"..R. Biva of Srungaya said: "NEHIRA [light] is his name, for it is written, 'and the light [nehora] dwelleth with him [Dan 2.22], and it is spelled nehhira'".

Perqe Shalom: R. Yoyse the Galilean said: "The name of the Messiah is Peace, for it is said, 'Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace [Isa. 9.5]..' "R. Yose the Galilean said: 'Great is peace, for in the hour in which King Messiah is revealed to Israel, he begins with peace, for it is said, 'how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger of good tidings who announceth peace [Isa. 52.7].

With this in mind we can now explore other linked precepts:

Zohar..The enlightened will shine like the zohar of the sky,
and those who make the masses righteous
will shine like the stars forever and ever [Daniel 12.3].

Genesis Rabbah, XCVIII:IX 1.J: "He washes his garments in wine: for he will link together words of Torah".

The referral back to the Torah brings into remembrance the restoration of the Tabernacle [see The Acceptable Day of the Lord.html on these details]:

Zohar The opening of the Tent is the opening of righteousness,
as the Psalmist says:
'Open for me the gates of righteousness.. [Psalm 118.19]'.
This is the first opening to enter.
Through this opening, all other high openings come into view.
One who attains the clarity of this opening
discovers all the other openings,
for all of them abide here.
Now that Israel is in exile, this opening is unknown;
all the openings have abandoned her.
It is impossible to know, impossible to grasp,
But when Israel comes forth from exile
All the soaring spheres will touch down upon this opening,
one by one.
Then human beings will perceive wondrous, precious wisdom,
never known by them before,
as it is written:
'The spirit of YHVH shall alight upon him:
a spirit of wisdom and insight,
a spirit of design and power,
a spirit of knowledge and awe of YHVH [Isa. 11.2]'.
All these are destined to alight upon King Messiah
So that He may judge the world,
as it is written:
'He shall judge the poor with righteousness...[Isa. 11.4]'.

Psalm 37.6 ..He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
37.30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
37.37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

Isaiah 16.6 And in mercy shall the throne be established; and He shall sit upon it in truth in the Tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

Bavli CCXVIII.N He knew how to tell the exact time at which the Holy One, blessed be he, was angry.

Zohar: This one is not known by any name in the world, for something sublime is in Him; it is a secret. The flowing light of his Father shines upon him! This secret has not spread among the comrades.

Dead Sea Scrolls 4Q534..with him there will be advise and discretion and he will know the secrets of men. His wisdom will extend to all people. He will know the secrets of all living things. All their plans against him will fail, although the antagonism of all living things will be great..for he is the one chosen by God..His plans will last forever.

 Dead Sea Scrolls, Testament of Levi , Q541, frag. 9 ..And he will atone for all the children of his generation, and he will be sent to all the children of his people. His word is like the word of the heavens, and his teaching according to the Will of God. His eternal sun will shine and his fire will burn in all the ends of the earth. Above the darkness his sun will shine. Then, darkness will vanish from the earth, and gloom from the globe. They will utter many words against him, and an abundance of lies; they will fabricate fables against him, and utter every kind of disparagement against him. His generation will change the evil and ...the people will go astray in his days and they will be bewildered.

Bavli LXXXVII.F Would he, then, if all the world is heretic, be also, to the world, a heretic?

4 Ezra..These are the interpretations of the vision. Since you saw a man coming up from the heart of the sea, it is he whom the highest one is keeping for many ages (and through whom he will deliver his creation). He will determine the survivors. Since you saw that wind, fire, and storm came out of his mouth, that he held neither spear nor weapon, but destroyed the assaulting multitude who had come to fight against him, here is the interpretation: Behold, the days come when the highest one is about to deliver those who are on the earth. And these earth dwellers will be astonished..

Zohar... Moses attained the mirror that shines, which oversees the one that does not shine. But the mirror that shines, which is concealed, this is described as knowing. As it is written: "I was not known..and wisdom gives life to those who have it [Eccl. 7.12].

We know that God is a God of the living and does not will that anyone should lose their life, Through His Word He brings you back to His way. One vision of this is expressed in the Dead Sea Scrolls:

page 30

Dead Sea Scrolls, Damascus Rule VIII..but those who turn from the sin of Jacob, who keep the covenant of God, shall then speak each man to his fellow, to justify each man his brother, that their step may take the way of God. And God will heed their words and will hear, and a Book of Reminder [see Malachi 3.17; ed. note] shall be written before him of them that fear God and worship His Name. Against the time when Salvation and Righteousness shall be revealed to them that fear God. And then shall you distinguish once more between the just and the wicked, between one that serves God and one that serves Him not [Mal 3.18]; and He will show lovingkindness to thousands, to them that love Him and watch for Him, for a thousand generations [Exod. 20.6].

The Messiah is given extraordinary wisdom according to the Dead Sea Scrolls (we repeat for emphasis):

Dead Sea Scrolls, Horoscope of the Messiah, 4Q534 After two years he will know how to distinguish one thing from another. In his youth, he shall be like..like a man who knows nothing until the time when He knows the Three Books.

And then he will acquire wisdom and learn understanding..vision to come to him on his knees. And with his Father and his ancestors..life and old age. Counsel and prudence will be with him, and He will know the secrets of man. His wisdom will reach all the peoples, and He will know the secrets of all the living. And all their designs against him will come to nothing, and his rule over all the living will be great. His designs will succeed for He is the Elect of God. His birth and the breath of His spirit..and his designs shall be forever..

The Dead Sea Scrolls also describe Him as Melkizedek Redivivus:

Dead Sea Scrolls, Book of Jubilees..And the Day of Atonement is the end of the tenth Jubilee, when all the Sons of Light and the men of the lot of Melkizedek will be atoned for. And a statute concerns them to provide them with their rewards. For this is the moment of the Year of Grace for Melkizedek. And he will, by his strength, judge the Holy Ones of God, executing judgment, as it is written concerning him in the Songs of David, which said, Elohim has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods He holds judgment [Psalms 82.1]. And it was concerning Him that he said, Let the assembly of the peoples return to the height above them; El [God] will judge the peoples [Psalms 7.7-8]. As for that which he said, How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah. Its interpretation concerns Satan and the spirits of his lot who rebelled by turning away from the precepts of God to...And Melkizedek will avenge the vengeance of the judgments of God..and He will drag them from the hand of Satan and from the hand of all the spirits of his lot. And all the gods of Justice will come to his aid to attend to the destruction of Satan..

...This is the day of Peace/Salvation concerning which God spoke through Isaiah the prophet, who said, How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who proclaims peace, who brings good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion: your Elohim reigns [Isa 52.7].

Its interpretation: the mountains are the prophets..and the messenger is the Anointed One [Messiah] of the Spirit, concerning whom Daniel said, until an Anointed One, a prince [Dan. 9.25].

And He who brings good news, who proclaims salvation: it is concerning Him that it is written..To comfort all who mourn, to grant to those who mourn in Zion Isa. 61.2-3].

To comfort those who mourn: Its interpretation, to make them understand all the ages of time.

..in truth..will turn away from Satan..by judgments of God, as it is written concerning him, who says to Zion: your Elohim reigns. Zion is..those who uphold the covenant, who turn from walking in the way of the people. And your Elohim is Melkizedek, who will save them from the hand of Satan.

So your Elohim Reigns

In truth, the Jewish expectation of the Messiah is of one who is endowed with great wisdom. To understand the background on this, one must inquire into the Hebrew Marriage Tradition, where the ideal groom is one who is well versed in the Torah and the Testimony (Scriptures). See our From Dust and Ashes to Joy html and the Acceptable Day of the Lord  html on this.

In the Kabbalah there are terms and precepts which are useful for understanding the various names of God, and how it is come to pass that the king [MaLCHUT] Messiah proclaims, that Elohim reigns. (This may be a bit heavy for most people).

We have seen the King standing in a river (He places one hand in the rivers and the other in the sea). The word, understanding, is BINaH, which is a sphere (Sieferot) of the Ten Sieferot which describe God's attributes. The highest sphere is KeTeR (crown), the second sphere is CHOCMaH (wisdom) and the third is BINaH, understanding. According Gikitilla's "Gates of Light ", the Sphere BINaH is written YHVH and is pronounced ELOHIM; it is the essence of the revelation of the three upper Spheres by which the light of KeTeR and His will is revealed, until the everflow reaches the Sphere YeSOD [foundation], which is the essence of the seven lower Spheres. It is then that the Sphere YeSOD empties all its everflow of blessing into the attribute MaLCHUT (King), which is called ADoNaY. Therefore it is called BaT SHeVa (daughter of seven), meaning the Sphere that is sustained by the seven Spheres above it, which are called BINaH, GeDulaH, GeVuRah, TiFERet, NeTZaCH, HOD, YeSOD. This is the meaning of BaT SHeVa and BE'ER SHeVa (well of Seven), meaning the well that fills up with the seven Spheres. Thus the essence of BE'eR SheVa is called the Sphere BINAH, for this is the source of the everflow when it emanates to the seven sources below it.

page 33

One finds that these two Spheres KeTeR and MaLCHUT, are the cause for the revealing of the uppermost KeTeR and the cause for the everflow which is the sustenance and the blessing of all creatures. The Sphere BINaH draws the upper everflow from the source to the seven Spheres beneath her until the attribute MaLCHUT is filled with everflow and blessing. The Sphere MaLCHUT draws a variety of blessing and everflow from the Spheres above her, and then she sustains all who are found above and below her, for the Sphere MalCHUT is the essence of the great sustainer who sustains all creatures..And from the attribute BINaH will come all blessings to the attribute MaLCHUT, the essence of which is

And a river went out from Eden [Gen. 2.10]

This is the essence of BINaH, which goes out from the place of KeTer, through the hands of CHoCHMaH (wisdom), which is known as RaTZON (will). For BINaH is referred to as the channels of the river.

...to water the garden...(Gen. 2.10)

This is the Sphere MaLCHUT, who receives much everflow and blessing which emanates through the Sphere BINaH.

...and from there they separate...(Gen. 2.10)

This means that from the Sphere MaLCHUT and below, the various kinds of everflow separate to sustain all creatures, each in accordance with what has been justly determined. For, from BINaH through the Sphere MaLCHUT onward is the essence of the world of separation...

page 34

..know and believe that the Sphere BINaH and the Sphere MaLCHUT both face each other. For when the attribute MaLCHUT is in repair with Israel, fixed with the fulfillment of the Torah and the commandments, the Sphere BINaH appears to empty all the everflow and blessing through the Spheres until the Sphere MaLCHUT is full of blessing. Then the peoples of the world are tranquil and secure and the blessing is sent through a variety of foods and the blessing is attached to the land, thus the verse [promises that]: "If you follow My statutes..." --all the subsequent blessings which follow the verse [will be yours].
...all the yearnings, desires and designs are with the Sphere BINaH, for both are facing one another. In the Jubilee year, they unify in complete unity thus bringing redemption to the Sphere MaLCHUT, for it is the essence of the earth.
,,,After you become aware of this, contemplate that whereever in the Torah you find it written YHVH (LORD) ADoNaY (Lord), know and understand that these two Spheres are represented: one, the Sphere BINaH, which is written YHVH and is pronounced ELOHIM, and the second Sphere, MaLCHUT, which is pronounced ADoNay, for this is the essence of:

YHVH ADoNay is my strength [Hab. 3.19].

Now, we must make known to you that when these two Spheres unite, then the world is in complete repair and whole, for all the channels are in full flow, and the Spheres are united and blessing is sent forth to the Sphere MaLCHUT which is called ADoNaY. This happens in two ways. In some places you will find it written ADONAY YHVH, as in:

ADoNaY YHVH, what will you give me? [Gen. 15.2]

And in other places it is written YHVH ADoNay, as in:

page 35

YHVH ADoNaY is my strength [Hab. 3.19].

Know that there will be a time in the future when the righteous will ascend to the point where they will reach BINah, which is the essence of the world to come, and then they will be free. They will be redeemed from a vast array of destructive forces and plagues, the essence of which is:

He who redeems your life from the destroyer [Psalm 103.4].

It is in correspondence to this attribute and this promise that we are welcomed into the world to come. We have been commanded in the Torah some commandments and some prohibitions whose reward emanates from none other than the Sphere BINaH, which is sometimes called the World to Come. And it is called YOVeL [the Jubilee which is celebrated every 50th year], for it is from there that one goes from bondage to redemption, from mourning into feasting, and from darkness into the Great Light. The preceding discussion on BINaH is an extract from [SHA'ARE ORAH] "Gates of Light "by Rabbi Joseph Gikatilla, a thirteenth century Kabbalist.

 Now why are the Spheres called Sephirot?

Bahir 125 Because it is written [Psalm 19.2] "The heavens declare (me-SaPRim) the glory of God.
126 What are they?
They are three. Among them are three troops and three dominions. The first dominion is light. Light is the life of water. Ophanim, the wheels of the Chariot, and all the troops of the Blessed Holy One. They bless, exalt, glorify, praise and sanctify the mighty King with the Kedushah. Arranged in the mystery of the great Kedushah is the fearsome and terrible King. And they crown Him with three "holies".
130 What is the meaning of, "the whole earth is filled with His glory"?
This is the earth that was created on the first day. It is on high, filled with God's glory and paralleling the Land of Israel.
And what is this glory? It is Wisdom, as it is written [Proverbs 3.35], "The wise shall inherit glory".
190 What is the fear of God?
It is the first light.
Rabbi Meir thus said: Why is it written [Gen. 1.3], And God said, let there be light, and there was light"? Why does it not say, "and it was so"?
But this teaches us that the light was very intense so that no created thing could gaze upon it. God therefore stored it away for the righteous in the Ultimate Future.

page 36

Proverbs 6.23 For the commandment is a lamp, and Torah is a light.
Psalm 118.27 The Lord is God, He has given us Light.

 Those who are given light are expected to share it:

 Dead Sea Scrolls, Aramaic Levi 4Q213, Frag. 5 ..The beginning of all your deads should be in truth and justice and truth remain forever...He who teaches wisdom will be honored by it but he who despises wisdom will be given to insult and scorn....A great richness of glory is wisdom for whoever knows it, and a treasure for all who acquire it. If powerful kings come and a great people and an army of horsemen and many chariots with them, and they take the possesions of the region, and of the province, and steal everything there is in them, they cannot steal the treasure of wisdom, [nor will they find its secrets].

Jeremiah 23.28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.
23.29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Keep this and Psalm 12 in mind as we leap forward into how Judgment reigns:

Midrash, Deut. 1.9, Sifre D.9,16..Thus it is said, DO NOT ROB THE WRETCHED BECAUSE HE IS WRETCHED; DO NOT CRUSH THE POOR MAN IN THE GATE, FOR THE LORD WILL TAKE UP THEIR CAUSE AND DESPOIL THOSE WHO DESPOIL THEM OF LIFE [Proverbs 22.22-23].

Keeping in mind how BINaH wants to everflow from the head (KeTeR--crown) to the feet of the ten Sephirot, which is MaLCHUT (King), it follows that the everflow is dependent upon wise men to receive of the everflow. We have seen in the Light of the Gentile  that He calls and no one answers and is distressed that there is no judgment [among men]. So to help get the everflow going let us give you a small parable of what a wise man is:

Midrash, Sifre D.9, 16. WHO ARE WISE (Deut. 1.13). That is what Arios asked R. Jose, saying him, "What is the definition of a 'wise man'?"
He said to him, "One who can establish his teaching."
"Perhaps that is the definition of one who is 'discerning'."
He said to him, "the verse mentions DISCERNING (Deut. 1.13) afterward. What is the distinction between a 'wise man' and a 'discerning man'? A wise man is like a wealthy money-changer. When he is brought coins to examine, he examines them, and when he is not brought any coins, he takes out his own and examines them. A discerning man is like a poor money-changer. When he is brought coins to examine, he examines them, but when no coins are brought to him, he sits idly by."

Isaiah 28.26 [referring to the Plowman] For his God doth instruct him to discretion and doth teach him...

Now the man of Elohim is just and merciful. But the Kabbalah states that when ADoNaY YHVH ELOHIM are joined together in council, then the judgment is final. The everflow goes something like this. YHVH is the ineffable; Elohim, being with a Great Council, is Judgment, who said, "Let there be Light.. and Let us create man in our image", and ADoNaY is the Lord, the lower sphere which when combined in the names of YHVH and ELOHIM and without EL ( God, whose name is the attribute of Mercy), become in essence like the Angel we discussed above. Beware of Him for my name (jah or EL) is in Him..for he will not forgive your transgressions. The Light of the Gentile  has all of these attributes plus, because God (EL) is merciful and long suffering, He has the name of El in Him.

This is what the Dead Sea Scrolls have to say about the Prophet who has the name of God in his name:

 Dead Sea Scrolls, Pentateuch  4Q158, Frag. 6....hear the sound of the words ... I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their brothers, and I will place my words in his mouth and I will tell them everthing I command him. And it will happen that the man who does not listen to the words which he will utter in my name I will call him to account. But the prophet who dares to speak in my name what I have not commanded him to say, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. And if you say in your heart: How will I know the word which YHWH has not spoken? If what the prophet says in the name of YHWH does not occur, or does not happen, [re: Isa it is a word which YHWH has not pronounced; the prophet has pronounced it daringly. Have no fear of him [Deut. 18.18-22].

page 37

Now wisdom is light and life to those who have it [Proverbs], and it appears to me that the first order of business for the Light of the Gentile  is to feed you with light. Here, for instance, is some of that light:

Ecclesiasticus 1.1 All wisdom comes from the LORD.
1.26 If you desire wisdom, keep the commandments.
1.30 Do not exalt yourself, or you may fall,
And bring disgrace upon yourself;
And the Lord will reveal your secrets
And prostrate you before all the congregation.
2.5 For gold is tested with fire,
And men who are approved must be tested in the furnace of humiliation.
2.13 Alas for a faint heart for it does not believe;
Therefore it will not be protected.
2.15 Those who fear the Lord will not disobey his words,
And those who love him will keep his ways.
3.18 The greater you are, the more you must practice humility..
3.30 As water will quench a blazing fire,
So charity will atone for sin.
4.11 Wisdom makes her sons exalted,
And lays hold of those who seek her.
Whoever loves her loves life.
4.15 Whoever obeys her will judge the heathen.
4.23..For wisdom is known through speech,
And instruction through the spoken word.
Do not contradict the truth..
4.28 Contend for the truth to the death,
And the Lord will fight for you.
5.12 If you possess understanding, answer your neighbor,
But if you do not have it, keep your hand over your mouth!
Both glory and disgrace come from speaking,
And a man's tongue is his downfall
[see Maravot's_Homepage3.html for Jesus' use of this phrase].
6.4 A wicked heart will destroy its possessor,
6.9 And there are friends who turn into enemies,
6.23 Listen my child, and accept my opinion,
And do not refuse my advice.
Put your feet into her [wisdom's] fetters,
And your neck into her collar.
Put your shoulder under her and carry her,
And do not weary of her chains;
Come to her with all your heart,
And follow her ways with all your might.
Inquire and search, and she will be made known to you,
And when you have grasped her, do not let her go.
For at last you will find the rest she gives,
And you will find her turning into gladness.
Her fetters will become your strong defense,
And her collars a splendid robe.
She wears gold ornaments,
And her chains are purple thread;
You will put her on like a splendid robe,
And put her on your head like a victor's wreath.
6.36 If you see a man of understanding, go to him early,
And let your feet wear out his doorstep.
7.4 Do not ask the Lord for preeminence,
Or the King for a seat of honor.

page 38

Do not justify yourself in the sight of the Lord,
7.13 Do not consent to utter any lie,
7.33 A present pleases every man alive,
And in the case of the dead, do not withhold your kindness.
Do not be wanting to those who weep,
But mourn with those who mourn.
10.5 Authority over the earth is in the hands of the Lord,
And in due time he will set over it one who will serve his purpose.
10.6..do not gain your end by acts of violence.
Pride is detested in the sight of the Lord and of men,
And injustice is wrong in the sight of both.
Sovereignty passes from one nation to another
Because of injustice and violence and greed for money.
10.14 The Lord tears down the thrones of rulers,
And seats the humble-minded in their places.
The Lord plucks up nations by the roots,
And plants the lowly in their places.
11.27..when a man dies, what he has done is disclosed.
13.19 Wild asses are the prey of lions in the wilderness,
Just as the poor are pasture for the rich.
Humility is detestable to the proud,
Just as a poor man is detestable to a rich man.
15.1 ..he who masters the Law will win her [wisdom].
She will meet him like a mother,
And receive him like a bride.
She will feed him with the bread of understanding,
And give him the water of wisdom to drink.
15.7 Men with no understanding will not win her,
And sinners will not see her.
She is far from pride,
And liars give no heed to her.

15.19 He [God] knows everything man does.
He has not commanded anyone to be ungodly,
And He has given no one permission to sin.

16.4 For from one man of understanding, a city will be peopled,
But a tribe of lawless men will be destroyed.
16.6 In a gathering of sinners a fire is kindled,
And in a disobedient nation wrath burns.
16.12 He is mighty in forgiveness, and yet pours out his wrath;
Great as is his mercy, so great is his correction also;
He will judge a man by his doings.
18.13 But the mercy of the Lord is for all mankind,
Reproving and training and teaching them,
And bringing them back as a shepherd does his flock.
18.18 A fool ungraciously abuses people,
18.28 Every man of understanding recognizes wisdom,
And will thank the man who finds her.
19.22 The knowledge of wickedness is not wisdom,
And where the counsel of sinners is, there is no understanding.
There is a cunning that is detestable,
And there is a foolish man who is only deficient in wisdom.
A man who is inferior in understanding
But fears God is better
Than one who abounds in prudence but transgresses the Law.

page 39

20.7 A wise man will keep silence till his time comes,
But a boaster and a fool miss the fitting time.
20.13 A man who speaks wisely makes himself beloved;
But the pleasant speeches of fools are thrown away.
20.20 A proverb on the lips of a fool will be refused,
For he will not utter it at the proper time.
20.24 A lie is a bad blot in a man;
It is continually found on the lips of the ignorant.
A thief is better than a habitual liar,
But they are both doomed to destruction.
Dishonor is habitual with a liar,
And his shame attends him continually.
20.29 Gifts and presents can blind the eyes of wise men,
And avert reproofs like a muzzle on the mouth.
Hidden wisdom and concealed treasure--
What is the use of either of them?
A man who conceals his folly is better
Than a man who conceals his wisdom.
21.6 A man who hates reproof is walking in the sinner's steps,
21.9 An assembly of wicked men is like tow wrapped together;
For their end is a blazing fire.
21.13 A wise man's knowledge abounds like a flood,
and his counsel is like a living spring.
The heart of a fool is like a broken dish;
It will hold no knowledge.
If a man of understanding hears a wise saying,
He commends it, and adds to it;
A self-indulgent man hears it, and it displeases him,
And he throws it behind his back.
21.18 To a fool wisdom is like a ruined house,
And the knowledge of a man without understanding
Is words that will not bear investigation.
21.26 The minds of fools are in their mouths,
But the mouth of wise men is their mind.
22.7 The man who teaches a fool is gluing a potsherd together,
Or rousing a sleeper out of a deep sleep.

page 40

22.16 A wooden girder fastened in a building
Is not loosened by an earthquake;
So a mind established on well-considered thought
Will not be afraid in an emergency.
22.24 The vapor and smoke from the furnace precedes the fire,
So abuse precedes bloodshed.
23.8 It is through his lips that the sinner is caught.
23.11 ..the man who constantly swears and utters the Name
Cannot be absolved from sin.
23.21 Such a man will be punished in the streets of the city,
And caught where he least suspects it.
24.27 The Law of Moses..makes instruction shine forth like light.
24.32 I will again make instruction dawn like the daybreak,
And make it shine forth afar,
I will pour out teaching again like prophecy,
And leave it behind for endless generations.
Observe that I have not laboured for myself only,
But for all who seek her out.
27.7 Do not praise a man before you hear him reason,
For that is the way men are tested.
If you pursue what is right, you will overtake it,
And put it on like a splendid robe.
27.25 The man who throws a stone into the air
Is throwing it on his own head.
28.2 Forgive your neighbor his wrongdoing;
Then your sins will be forgiven you when you pray.
28.13 Curse the whisperer and the deceitful man;
For he has destroyed many who were at peace.
A third person's tongue has stirred many up,
And removed them from one nation to another;
It has torn down strongly fortified cities,
And overthrown the houses of the great.
28.18 Many have fallen by the edge of the sword,
But not so many as have fallen by the tongue.
29.8 ..be patient with a poor man,
And do not make him wait for charity.
For the commandment's sake help the needy man,
And, in view of his need, do not send him away unsatisfied.
29.11 Lay up your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High,
And it will be more profitable to you than gold.
Store up gifts to charity in your storerooms.
31.5 The man who pursues profits will be led astray by them.
32.15 The man who pursues the Law will get his fill of it,
But the hypocrite will be tripped up by it.
32.23 In every act have faith in yourself,
For that is the keeping of the commandments.
34.8..widom finds perfection in truthful lips.
34.21 Scanty fare is the living of the poor;
The man who deprives them of it is a murderous man.
35.3 Avoiding wickedness wins the Lord's approval,
And avoiding wrongdoing is atonement.
Do not appear before the Lord empty-handed,
For all these things must be done because they are commanded.

page 41

35.12 Do not try to bribe Him, for he will not accept it..
He will show no partiality against the poor,
But he will listen to the prayer of the man who is wronged.
35.16 The man who serves God with good will is welcomed,
And his prayer reaches the clouds.
The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds,
And until it reaches God, he will not be consoled.
He will not leave off until the Most High considers him,
And does justice to the upright, and passes judgment.
41.17 Be ashamed of a father and mother, for immorality,
And of a prince and a ruler, for a lie;
Or a judge and a magistrate, for an offense,
And of an assembly and the people, for disregard for the Law;
42.21 He has ordained the majesty of his wisdom,
For he is from everlasting to everlasting,
It cannot be increased or diminished.
48.10 Who, it is written, is to come in rebuke at the appointed time,
To quiet anger before it becomes wrath.

Proverbs 1.5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning;
And a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
1.7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
1.8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
And forsake not the law of thy mother:
1.9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head,
And chains about thy neck.
1.23 Turn you at my reproof:
Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you,
I will make known my words unto you.
1.24 Because I have called, and ye refused;
I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded.
1.25 But ye have set at nought all of my counsel,
And would none of my reproof:
1.26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your fear cometh;
1.27 When your fear cometh as desolation,
And your destruction cometh as a whirlwind;
when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
1.28 Then shall they call upon me,
But I will not answer; they shall seek me early,
But they shall not find me:
1/29 For that they hated knowledge,
And did not choose the fear of the LORD.

page 42

2.6 ..the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth
Cometh knowledge and understanding,
2.7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:
He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
6.23 For the commandment is a lamp;
And the law is light;
And reproofs of instruction are the way of life.
8.8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;
There is nothing forward or perverse in them.
8.9 They are all plain to him that understandeth,
And right to them that find knowledge.
8.13 the fear of the LORD is to hate evil:
Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,
And the froward mouth, do I hate.
8.36..all they that hate me love death.
11.9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour:
But through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Isaiah 53.11..by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;

Habakkuk..but the just shall live by His Faith.

Revelation 19.2 For true and righteous are his judgments:
For he hath judged the great whore,
Which did corrupt the earth with her fornication,
And hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
19.11..Behold a white horse:
And he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,
And in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
19.12 His eyes were as a flame of fire,
And on his head were many crowns;
And He had a name written,
That no man knew, but he himself.
19.13 and he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:
And his name is called The Word of God.
19.14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, Clothed in fine linen, White and clean.

page 43

19.15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword,
That with it he should smite the nations:
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron:
And he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness
And wrath of Almighty God.
19.16 And he hath on his vesture
And on his thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS

Ecclesiasticus (The Wisdom of Sirach)

1.14 To fear the Lord is the source of Wisdom,
And she was created with the faithful in the womb.
1.18 To fear the Lord is a crown of wisdom,
Making peace and healing health flourish.
He beheld her and counted her;
He rained down understanding and sound knowledge,
And increased the glory of those who possessed her.

1.25 In the storehouses of wisdom there are wise proverbs..
1.26 If you desire wisdom, keep the commandments.

1.30 Do not exalt yourself, or you may fall,
And bring disgrace upon yourself;
And the Lord will reveal your secrets
And prostrate you before all the congregation.

2.2 And do not be hasty when things go against you.

2.4 ..be patient in humiliating vicissitudes.
For gold is tested with fire
And men who are approved must be tested in the furnace of humiliation.

page 44

2.10 Who that put his trust in the Lord was ever put to shame?
Or who that continued to fear him was ever forsaken?
Or who that called upon him was overlooked by Him?

2.13 Alas for a faint heart, for it does not believe;
Therefore it will not be protected.

3.18 The greater you are the more you must practice humility,
And you will find favor with the Lord.

3.29 An intelligent man's mind can understand a proverb
And a wise man desires a listening ear.
As water will quench a blazing fire,
So charity will atone for sin.

4.1 My child, do not defraud the poor man of his living,
And do not make the eyes of the needy wait.
Do not pain a hungry heart,
And do not anger a man who is in want.
Do not increase the troubles of a mind that is incensed,
And do not put off giving to a man who is in need.
Do not refuse a suppliant in his trouble,
And do not avert your face from the poor.
Do not turn your eyes away from a beggar,
And do not give anyone cause to curse you,
For if he curses you in the bitterness of his spirit,
His creator will hear his prayer.

page 45

Listen to what a poor man has to say,
And give him a peaceful and gentle answer.
Rescue the man who is being wronged from the hand of the wrongdoer,
And do not be faint-hearted about giving your judgment.
Be like a father to the fatherless.

4.11 Wisdom makes her sons exalted,
And lays hold of those who seek her.
Whoever loves her loves life,
And those who seek her early will be filled with joy.
Whoever holds her fast will win glory..
Whoever obeys her will judge the heathen.

4.25 Do not contradict the truth,
But feel shame for your want of education.
Do not be ashamed to confess your sins,
And do not try to force back the current of a river.
Do not make yourself a bed for a fool,
And do not show partiality for a ruler;
Contend for the truth to the death,
And the Lord will fight for you.

5.1 Do not set your heart on your money..

page 46

5.12 If you possess understanding, answer your neighbor,
But if you do not have it, keep your hand over your mouth!
Both glory and disgrace come from speaking,
And a man's tongue is his own downfall.

5.15 Do not be ignorant in great matters or in small.

6.4 A wicked heart will destroy its possessor,
and fill his enemies with malignant joy.
Sweet speech makes many friends...

6.10 ..there are friends who will sit at your table,
But will not stand by you when you are in trouble.

6.17 The man who fears the Lord will make genuine friendships,
For to him his neighbor is like himself.
6.18 My child, from your youth up cultivate education,
And you will keep on finding wisdom until you are gray.
..She seems very harsh to the undisciplined,
And a thoughtless man cannot abide her.
She will rest on him like a great stone to test him,
And he will not delay to throw her off.
Inquire and search, and she will be made known to you,
And when you have grasped her, do not let her go.
For at last you will find the rest she gives,
And you will find her turning into gladness.

page 47

Her fetters will become your strong defense,
And her collars a splendid robe.

6.35 Be willing to listen to every godly discourse,
And do not let any wise proverbs escape you.
If you see a man of understanding, go to him early,
And let your feet wear out his doorstep.

7.1 Do no evil, and evil will not overtake you.
Avoid what is wrong, and it will turn away from you.

7.4 Do not ask the Lord for pre-eminence,
Or the king for a seat of honor.
Do not justify yourself in the sight of the Lord,
Or show off your wisdom before the king;
Do not seek to be made a judge,
Or you may not be able to put down wrongdoing;
Or you may show partiality to a man of influence,
And put a stumbling block in the way of your own uprightness.

7.8 Do not repeat a sin,
For with even one offense you are not innocent.

7.13 Do not consent to utter any lie..

7.16 Do not be counted in the crowd of sinners;
Remember that wrath will not delay.

7.32 Stretch out your hand to the poor also,
That your blessing may be accomplished.

page 48

A present pleases every man alive,
And in the case of the dead, do not withhold your kindness.
..Do not hesitate to visit a man who is sick..

8.9 Do not neglect the discourse of wise men,
But busy yourself with their proverbs;
For from them you will gain instruction,
And learn to serve great men.

8.17 Do not take counsel with a fool,
For he will not be able to keep the matter secret.

9.16 Make upright men your companions at table,
And your exultation be over the fear of the Lord.
It is for the skill of the craftsmen that a piece of work is commended,
And a ruler of the people must be wise in what he says.

10.7 Pride is detested in the sight of the Lord and of men,
And injustice is wrong in the sight of both.
Sovereignty passes from one nation to another
Because of injustice and violence and greed for money.

10.14 The Lord tears down the thrones of rulers,
And seats the humble-minded in their places.
The Lord plucks up nations by the roots,
And plants the lowly in their places.
..It is not proper to honor a sinful man

10.30 A poor man is honored for his knowledge,
And a rich man is honored for his wealth.
If a man is honored in poverty, how much more will he be in wealth?

page 49

11.1 The wisdom of a humble person will lift up his head,
And make him sit among the great.

11.4 Do not boast of the clothes you wear,
And do not be uplifted when you are honored.
11.5 Many sovereigns have had to sit on the ground,
While a man who was never thought of has assumed the diadem.

11.7 First understand, and then rebuke.
Do not answer before you hear,
And do not interrupt in the middle of what is being said.
..And when sinners judge, do not sit in council with them.

11.11 One man toils and labors and hurries,
And is all the worse off.
Another is slow, and needs help,
Lacks strength and has plenty of poverty,
Yet the eyes of the Lord look favorably on him,
And He lifts him up out of his low position,
And lifts up his head,
And many wonder at him.

11.18 One man grows rich by carefulness and greed,
And this will be his reward:
When he says, "Now I can rest,
And enjoy my goods,"
He does not know when the time will come
When he will die and leave them to others.

page 50

11.15 In prosperity one forgets misfortune,
For it is easy in the Lord's sight when a man dies
To repay him according to his ways.
An hour of hardship makes one forget enjoyment,
And when a man dies, what he has done is disclosed.

11.30 A proud man's heart is like a decoy partridge in a cage,
And like a spy he looks for your downfall;
For he tries to entrap you, turning good into evil,
And he finds fault with your favorite things.

12.13 Who pities a snake-charmer when he is bitten,
Or all those who have to do with wild animals?
In the same way who will pity a man who approaches a sinner,
And mingles with his sins?

13.1 The man who touches pitch will get his hands dirty,
And the man who associates with a proud person will become like him.

13.9 Wild asses are the prey of lions in the wilderness,
Just as the poor are pasture for the rich.
Humility is detestable to the proud,
Just as a poor man is detestable to a rich one.
..poverty is called evil by the ungodly.

page 51

14.8 He is a wicked man who has an envious eye,
Turning away his face, and pretending not to see human souls.
A covetous man's eye is never satisfied with what he gets,
And a wicked injustice dries up the heart.

14.16..there is no looking for luxury in Hades.

29.19..And the man who pursues profits falls into lawsuits.

31.5 ..the man who pursues profits will be led astray by them.

31.8 Happy is the rich man who is found blameless,
And does not go after gold;
Who is he? --that we may congratulate him,
For he has worked wonders among his people.
Who has been able to transgress and has not transgressed,
And to do wrong and has not done it?

15.20 He [the Lord] has not commanded anyone to be ungoldly,
And he has given no one permission to sin.

16.4 ..from one man of understanding a city will be peopled,
But a tribe of lawless men will be destroyed.
Many such things my eyes have seen,
And mightier things than these my ears have heard.
In a gathering of sinners a fire is kindled,
And in a disobedient nation wrath burns.

16.17 Do not say, "I will be hidden from the Lord,
And on high who will remember me?..."

18.12 He [the Lord] sees and recognizes that their end is evil,
So he increases his forgiveness.
a man has mercy on his neighbor,

But the mercy of the Lord is for all mankind,
Reproving and training and teaching them,
And bringing them back as a shepherd does his flock.

page 52

..so a word is more potent than a gift.
Why, is not a word better than a gift?
Both mark the charitable man;
A fool ungraciously abuses people..

29.9 For the commandment's sake help the needy man,
And, in view of his need, do not send him away unsatisfied.
Lose your money for the sake of a brother or a friend,
And do not let it rust to ruin under a stone.
Lay up your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High,
And it will be more profitable to you than gold.
Store up gifts to charity in your storerooms,
And it will deliver you from all harm.

34.21 Scanty fare is the living of the poor;
The man who deprives them of it is a murderous man.

34.24 One man prays and another curses;
Which one's voice will the Lord listen to?

35.10 Give to the Most High as he has given to you,
With a generous eye, and as your hand has found.
For the Lord is one who repays,
And he will repay you seven times over.
Do not try to bribe him, for he will not accept it,
And do not rely on an ill-gotten sacrifice;
For the Lord is a judge,
And there is no partiality with him.

page 53

He will show no partiality against the poor,
But he will listen to the prayer of the man who is wronged.

35.17 The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds,
and until it reaches God, he will not be consoled.
He will not leave off until the Most High considers him,
And does justice to the upright, and passes judgment.
And the Lord will not delay,
Or be slow about them,
Until he crushes the loins of the unmerciful,
And takes vengeance on the heathen.
Until he destroys the multitude of the insolent,
And breaks the scepters of the unrighteous;
Until he repays a man for his doings,
And repays men's deeds according to their thoughts...

18.21 Humble yourself before you fall sick..
And do not wait till you die to be justified.

18.28 Every man of understanding recognizes wisdom,
And will thank the man who finds her.

page 54

19.12 Like an arrow sticking in the flesh of the thigh,
Is a word in the heart of a fool.

19.22 The knowledge of wickedness is not wisdom,
And where the counsel of sinners is, there is no understanding.
There is cunning that is detestable,
And there is a foolish man who is only deficient in wisdom.
A man who is inferior in understanding but fears God is better
Than one who abounds in prudence but transgresses the Law.
There is an exact kind of shrewdness that is wrong,
And there is a man who acts crookedly to gain a judgment.
There is a kind of villain that bends mournfully,
But inwardly is full of deceit.
He covers his face, and pretends to be deaf,
But when no one is looking, he will take advantage of you.
And though for lack of strength he may be prevented from sinning,
If he finds an opportunity, he will do you harm.

20.7 A wise man will keep silence till his time comes,
But a boaster and a fool miss the fitting time.

20.13 A man who speaks wisely makes himself beloved;
But the pleasant speeches of fools are thrown away.
A present for a fool will do you no good,
For his eyes are not one but many.
He gives little but finds a great deal of fault,
And opens his mouth like a town-crier.

20.20 A proverb on the lips of a fool will be refused,
For he will not utter it at the proper time.

20.30 Hidden wisdom and concealed treasure--
What is the use of either of them?
A man who conceals his folly is better
Than a man who conceals his wisdom.

page 55

21.14 The heart of a fool is like a broken dish;
It will hold no knowledge.
If a man of understanding hears a wise saying,
He commends it, and adds to it;
A self-indulgent man hears it, and it displeases him,
And he throws it behind his back.

21.17 The utterance of a sensible man will be asked for in an assembly,
And what he says they will think over in their minds.
To a fool wisdom is like a ruined house,
And the knowledge of a man without understanding is words that will not bear investigation.
To the foolish man instruction is fetters on his feet.

22.7 The man who teaches a fool is gluing a potsherd together,
Or rousing a sleeper out of a deep sleep.
The man who lectures to a fool lectures to one who is dozing,
And at the conclusion he will say, "What was it?"
Weep for one who is dead, for light has failed him;
And weep over a fool, for understanding has failed him.
Weep less bitterly over the dead, for he has gone to rest;
But the fool's life is worse than death.
The mourning for the dead lasts seven days,
But that for a fool or an ungodly man lasts all the days of his life.

22.24 The vapor and smoke from the furnace precede the fire;
So abuse precedes bloodshed.

page 56

28.3 Shall one man cherish anger against another,
And yet ask healing from the Lord?

28.10 ..the more obstinate the quarrel, the more it will burn.

28.14 A third person's tongue has stirred many up,
And removed them from one nation to another;
It has torn down strongly fortified cities,
And overthrown the houses of the great...
Many have fallen by the edge of the sword,
But not so many as have fallen by the tongue.

27.25 The man who throws a stone into the air is throwing it on his own head..
And the man who sets a trap will be caught in it.

32.15 The man who pursues the Law will get his fill of it,
But the hypocrite will be tripped up by it.
Those who fear the Lord will discern his judgment,
And will kindle upright acts like the light.
A sinful man will shun reproof..

33.2 A wise man will not hate the Law,
But the man who is hypocritical about it is like a ship in a storm.

33.14 As good is the opposite of evil,
And life the opposite of death,
So the sinner is the opposite of the godly man.

33.27..idleness teaches much evil.

34.8..wisdom finds perfection in truthful lips.

27.5 The furnace tests the potter's dishes,
And the test of a man is in his reasoning.

27.7 Do not praise a man before you hear him reason,
for that is the way men are tested.

page 57

If you pursue what is right, you will overtake it,
And put it on like a splendid robe.

24.24 The Law of Moses ordained for us...
Which makes instruction shine forth like light...

24.32 ..I will again make instruction dawn like the daybreak,
And make it shine forth afar.
I will pour out teaching again like prophecy,
And leave it behind for endless generations.
Observe that I have not labored for myself only,
But for all who seek her out.

37.15 And above all this entreat the Most High
To direct your way in truth.
Every undertaking begins with reason,
And consideration precedes every work.

51.30 Finish your work in time,
And in his own time he will give you your reward.

39.1 He [who studies the Law of the Most High] searches out the wisdom of all the ancients,
And busies himself with prophecies;
He observes the discourse of famous men,
And penetrates the intricacies of figures.
He searches out the hidden meaning of proverbs,
And acquaints himself with the obscurities of figures.
He will serve among great men,
And appear before rulers.

page 58

39.6 If the great Lord pleases,
He will be filled with the spirit of understanding,
He will pour out his wise sayings,
And give thanks to the Lord in prayer;
He will direct his counsel and knowledge,
And study his secrets.
He will reveal instruction in teaching,
And will glory in the Law of the Lord's agreement.
Many will praise his understanding,
And it will never be blotted out.
His memory will not disappear,
And his name will live for endless generations.
Nations will repeat his wisdom
And the congregation will utter his praise.

39.19..The doings of all mankind are before him,
And it is not possible to be hidden from his eyes.

John 3.19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3.20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
3.21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought of God.

page 58

 Daniel 12.3 and they that be wise shall shine as the brighness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever...

 Isaiah 1.18... Come, let us reason together...

This plea of Maravot for you to seek the knowledge of the LORD and to do justice and have mercy, which is light, is ended.
